How It Works

Thank you for your interest in helping mothers through our ministry.  If you have someone you would like to nominate for assistance through Give Her Wings, you can do that here.  Please keep reading to learn more about how the process works so that you and the mother you are nominating can be aware of the steps we have to take to meet the guidelines of our vetting process.

  1. Nominations
If you know a mother who has left an abusive husband, you can nominate her via the aforementioned form.  We cannot offer assistance to mothers who are still living with their abusive husband.  We also do not accept self-nominations for financial support.
  2. Once you have submitted your nomination, our director or one of our team members will reach out to you to confirm information about the nominee and ask any questions we feel are necessary to move forward.
  3. Next, we reach out to the mother you nominated.  Initially, we will reach out via telephone and then someone associated with our organization will meet with the nominated mother in person.
  4. Once we have gathered the information necessary, and deemed in what we way we can best serve the mother, the nomination is then taken before our board for a vote.  The board will vote as to whether the mother will be taken on as an encouragement mama, a financial mama, or whether we need to provide other resources to the mama to best meet her needs at the present time.
  5. Based on the decision of the board, we will contact the mother personally and let her know how we can help going forward.  If she is brought on as a financial mama, she will receive a one-time allotment of funds that she can use as deemed necessary.  Our guidelines require that we handle these funds for our mamas.  What that means is, we pay the bills.  We do not send a check directly to our mamas.   We are accountable for every penny and this allows us to be sure that all funds are used for the mamas and their children.
